Thanks! I am glad you thought so. I can't seen any of the characters actually settling and being happy in Smallville and that does include Lana. Her vibes fit Paris or some sort of cosmopolitan city. She seems as if she would appreciate the ability to get lost in a crowd. I think your interpretation about how and what she was focused on early on is right - she also likely wanted to please her aunt as well. There wasn't many strong ties for her - Clark may have felt like an outsider but he still had his parents, Chloe, and Pete pre-canon ... I don't think she would've been able to open up to even her aunt.
