I think Clark's transition to the Blur and then Superman worked for his arc but it was long. The 'no flying' was weird, when they showed other characters (like Kara) flying easily.
I think he turned down the role twice and I imagine he figured the description of the show meant that wouldn't be a concern. I've heard that he had some body issues too (his weight definitely started fluctuating from s5-10) and I wouldn't be surprised if that contributed to his reluctance.
For sure. Batman is great and all, but Superman has always been my favorite and I don't get when people dismiss him or think he's "boring". :\
