Since I've come back to working on fics, I was going through all the challenge tables I signed up for on LJ and decided to start again on one called 15pairings. A few of the pairings I picked involved Lana (no, I haven't gone crazy in my time away, thank you very much; 15 different pairings is a LOT and I do have a few people I ship her with!).

I was trying to figure out what kind of job she would have and I couldn't think of something to suit her. That's when I decided to go to you, my flist. I'm looking for serious answers though.

So, what kind of career do you see Lana Lang in and why?

That's really an interesting question to me because I think it would be a very contextual choice for her. When writing her after her last appearance on Smallville, I think it depends on how much you think she'd want to superhero it up now. If it's something she's going to pursue seriously, I can see her taking her time before deciding on what sort of civilian life to settle into. She has plenty resources post-Lex to take the time to think it through at length, and there's so much baggage there for her to sort through. Closing the door permanently on Clark/Lana closes the door on a lot of other things in a very final way, I can't see her rebounding into a new life/career quickly after that. Given some time though, I think she'd want to revisit some lost threads of her past. Maybe something linked to her art school attempt, or something on a very local business level like what she did with the Talon. Given her opinions about Clark and his destiny, I can't see her taking on a career that would hamper her use of her new abilities to do good but I think she'd be a lot more successful at choosing something meaningful to do in her spare time and nurture her own emotional well-being than Clark has been.
