apachefirecat asked: Smallville, Lana Lang, growing up feeling alone in a small town
This is interesting - I've never really given Lana (as a character) much thought, but now that I am in terms of that topic, it is true. She's definitely one of those people who probably feels alone in a crowd. The show introduces her as the "girl next door", the popular but sweet cheerleader dating the QB, and the dream love interest of the main character. However, despite her falling into certain stereotypes, she is also the same person who will hang out in graveyards in the evening, which isn't exactly what you would think of from someone like her.
While she loves and is grateful for her aunt, I think there is a slight disconnect there from both sides, as she's trying to find herself and not just be content with how the whole town sees her. The song "Halo" by Bethany Joy Lenz has always reminded me of Lana.
